It is a standard that guarantees the minimum sistained write speed for video recording on CFexpress memory cards defined by CompactFlash® Association.
VPG stands for Video Performance Guarantee, a standard developed to ensure stable shooting of high-bitrate videos such as 8K RAW and 4K high-frame-rate videos.
CFexpress memory cards define benchmarks such as VPG200 with a sustained write speed of 200 MB/s and VPG400 with 400 MB/s:
VPG Profile 4
- VPG200: Min. sustained write speed of 200 MB/s
- VPG400: Min. sustained write speed of 400 MB/s
As a next-generation standard, VPG800 with a sustained write speed of 800 MB/s and VPG1600 with 1600 MB/s have also been defined:
VPG Profile 5
- VPG800: Min. sustained write speed of 800 MB/s
- VPG1600: Min. sustained write speed of 1600 MB/s
Using compatible cameras and cards together enables achieving stable video recording. Please note that VPG Profile 5 is not backward compatible with VPG Profile 4.
CFexpress Type A cards support up to VPG800, while CFexpress Type B cards support up to VPG1600 according to the specifications.
