YASUFUMI SUKEGAWA

Born in Tokyo in 1975. He graduated from Akita North Asia University of Economics and Law's Faculty of Law and from the Tokyo Visual Arts Photography Department. He studied under railway photographer Mitsuhide Mashima. His motto is not only to capture the charm the allure of railway vehicles themselves but also to convey the beauty of the landscapes and people surrounding the railways. He travels across Japan, with camera in hand, working tirelessly along the tracks. He contributes to railway and travel magazines, including Tetsudo Dia Joho (a magazine of railway schedule information: published by Kotsu Shimbunsha), and provides cover photos for publications such as the JTB Timetable (JTB Publishing) and the JR Timetable (Kotsu Shimbunsha). He is also actively involved in shooting posters and calendars for railway companies like JR East and Tobu Railway. He serves as a board member of the Japan Railway Photographers Society (JRPS), works at Mashima Railway Pictures, and is an instructor at Nikon College.
